Rescue Course Content

Enhance your dive skill and safety in the water! Enrol on a Stress and Rescue Course with Reef Encounter and become a qualified rescue diver. Learn how to prevent accidents and be prepared with the knowledge and ability to look after yourself and your buddy if something goes wrong. Through online theory training, short academic classes with your Dive Instructor and lots of practical in-water training you will learn how to avoid, recognise and solve in-water problems as well as the skills needed to handle panic and rescue situations. The course duration is 5 days in total, with 4 days / 3 nights spent on-board the liveaboard dive boat, Reef Encounter, and one day on a first aid and oxygen administration course in Cairns. With one of our highly experienced Dive Instructors all training dives are conducted in the ocean – both in shallow ‘confined water’ areas and then in deeper areas – eliminating the need for pool training and making dive scenarios more realistic and giving students valuable hands on experience.

In addition to your live-aboard rescue diver course, you will spend one day in Cairns on a nationally recognised first aid course learning all the basics of first aid and CPR as well as advanced oxygen administration for dive rescues. This is a pre-requisite for your rescue diver qualification and is included in the cost of your training.

Your Stress and Rescue Dive Course covers:

  • Stress In Diving: Causes And Prevention
  • Detecting And Dealing With Stress
  • Accident Management
  • Skills Needed To Deal With Panic And Rescues
  • Conditions That Complicate Rescues
